Making, printing, selling – a catch-up post!

While I have updated my shop and changed the look of this website, I do seem to forget to post on here! Sorry! I haven’t been totally idle though…..

I’ve been busy making new original prints, delivering linocut workshops and selling at many art and designer-maker events over the year. One of the loveliest shows I was fortunate to be accepted for was PrintFest 2019, in Ulverston, Cumbria. It was such an honour to be involved in this event and to be in the company of so many artisan printmakers whom I admire.

I won’t describe every event I have done so far this year as they were many and varied! But I have tried to do fairs new to me, including The Saltaire Makers Fair, with many other amazing designer-makers. If you have never been to Saltaire, north of Bradford, I would highly recommend it – such a beautiful village with a fascinating social history. I also had two gallery exhibitions – at Focus Gallery in Nottingham and The Green Man Gallery in Buxton. Then I have three more fairs to do this year – next up is Sheffield Print Fair (always a firm favourite and a well attended show), then the re-instated Artfest at Holmfirth, which is organised by the very lovely Suzi Thompson who helps run Sheffield Print Fair (she knows what she’s doing!!). Last but not least I will be at the Welbeck Winter Weekend, which I have applied to for about 4 years and finally been accepted!! Really looking forward to this as it is set in a beautiful venue, and again, is usually a well attended event for designer-makers.

Apart from the art fairs, I am preparing for some more workshops, trying to get my head around hand printed christmas card designs (aaghh, yes, already!), and planning new work for these last fairs. Aaaannnndd…….making a promise to myself to post more often on here instead of just on my facebook and instagram pages. (I said I would try).

neo:printprize exhibition

So happy to get notification that both my prints have been accepted into this year’s neo:printprize¬†at the neo:gallery in Bolton.

The exhibition will be on from 25th August to 30th October 2016 – at neo:gallery 27, Market Place, Bolton.

I was beginning to give up hope of getting into any exhibition this year, although I was surprised to get past the second round for the Royal Academy summer exhibition, even though I didn’t make the final cut. Not going to let it get me down though, I’ve got too much to do for my christmas fairs, so I better get a wriggle on…

First full day at Nottingham Contemporary

Wonderful first day of the fair at Craft. Design. Contemporary! Despite the gale force winds, Nottingham itself was buzzing with Christmas shoppers as was the fair. It was a long day but with the steady flow of ¬†people it certainly wasn’t that tiring. I had some lovely conversations with folk about my work and methods and caught up with quite a few people that I haven’t seen for years. Also, I think I may have a commission coming and possibly a workshop with some sixth formers.

Now I am relaxing and watching tonight’s recorded Strictly with a large glass of wine! FAB. U. LOUS. Darling!

CRAFT. DESIGN. CONTEMPORARY

Well, now I have the Sheffield Print Fair and Gedling Artists Festive Fair in the bag, it’s time for the biggie this weekend. I will be at the Craft. Design. Contemporary at Nottingham Contemporary Gallery from Friday to Sunday.
I am really glad I had the chance to do two fairs previous to this one, as I had never done any before, so I had time to iron out any problems. Not that I really had any, except managing to feed myself throughout the day! I didn’t realise how tiring it is standing up all day and smiling…..and this weekend will be long days but hopefully busy!

Please do come down and see my stand and all the other wonderful makers!
