While I have updated my shop and changed the look of this website, I do seem to forget to post on here! Sorry! I haven’t been totally idle though…..
I’ve been busy making new original prints, delivering linocut workshops and selling at many art and designer-maker events over the year. One of the loveliest shows I was fortunate to be accepted for was PrintFest 2019, in Ulverston, Cumbria. It was such an honour to be involved in this event and to be in the company of so many artisan printmakers whom I admire.
I won’t describe every event I have done so far this year as they were many and varied! But I have tried to do fairs new to me, including The Saltaire Makers Fair, with many other amazing designer-makers. If you have never been to Saltaire, north of Bradford, I would highly recommend it – such a beautiful village with a fascinating social history. I also had two gallery exhibitions – at Focus Gallery in Nottingham and The Green Man Gallery in Buxton. Then I have three more fairs to do this year – next up is Sheffield Print Fair (always a firm favourite and a well attended show), then the re-instated Artfest at Holmfirth, which is organised by the very lovely Suzi Thompson who helps run Sheffield Print Fair (she knows what she’s doing!!). Last but not least I will be at the Welbeck Winter Weekend, which I have applied to for about 4 years and finally been accepted!! Really looking forward to this as it is set in a beautiful venue, and again, is usually a well attended event for designer-makers.
Apart from the art fairs, I am preparing for some more workshops, trying to get my head around hand printed christmas card designs (aaghh, yes, already!), and planning new work for these last fairs. Aaaannnndd…….making a promise to myself to post more often on here instead of just on my facebook and instagram pages. (I said I would try).
I had a fabulous time last weekend at ‘Lustre’ design fair at Lakeside Arts in Nottingham.
The preview on the Friday was really busy (and made a few sales then too, so that was wonderful) as was the rest of the weekend. Had so many lovely comments about my work, backed up by good, steady sales – thank you to everyone who bought one of my prints or my cards, I hope you will enjoy them. I got a new gallery lead too, as well as a few emails from people requesting to buy a print that they said they regretted not buying at the time!
I was the only printmaker there (I think), so no competition! Definitely going to apply next year and hope they let me in again! Here are some photos of my stand and one or two other makers. It was very well curated and executed – huge thanks to all involved in setting it up!
I had a great couple of days at Leeds Print Fair last weekend – and a huge thank you to the people who bought my prints, I hope you enjoy them!
When I got back, I had an email from the lovely folk at the neo:gallery in Bolton, to say that both my prints have sold, so that made me really happy!
And this weekend, I am off to LUSTRE at Nottingham Lakeside Arts Centre. It’s going to be sparkly and very christmassy ( is that a word?). Come on over and get some lovely and original presents for yourself or others!
Been busy busy busy getting ready for my previous fair at York Art Markets (which was great!), so apologies for not posting for a while. Next up is Leeds Print Fair at the beginning of November in the Corn Exchange. Then, four more fairs in the lead up to Christmas! I will post about those in due course and show you new work that I am doing for them. In the mean time I thought I had better show you the last prints I have done, three winter scenes from the countryside here in the middle of England.
These will be available at the fairs and also on my new online shop – when I have finished setting it up (!) – within the next few weeks.
