Wonderful Workshop

Had a great day on Friday with a very lovely lady, teaching her how to do a reduction print. I did think it was very brave of someone to dive in there with this technique, having only had one previous go. But, she rose to the challenge beautifully…and I think is now infected with the lino cutting bug! Yay!!

I did forget to take process photos of every stage (we were talking too much!), but did manage to get these ones. I think she did very well indeed!

'Printmaker Nancy Power's work reflects the life around her. Be it a changing rural landscape, the decaying plants in her garden, or her collection of hand crafted ceramics, she finds inspiration from many sources. Deliberately eclectic in subject matter, her work is harmonised by her colour palette and distinctive inking process. Nancy uses the reduction method of lino printmaking; carving away at just one block for each consecutive colour to reveal the final image. By inking from dark to light, as opposed to the more traditional light to dark, Nancy's work has engaging depth and colour layering.'

  1. I had a great day learning Lino printing with Nancy. I really had little idea about what to do, but Nancy made the day relaxing and informative. I have a notebook full of intimation. I’m pleased I managed to produce an image and it’s given me lots of food for thought. I’m right at the beginning but feel inspired to improve.
I’d recommend a day spent with Nancy giving it a go or seeking to improve your technique.
    Thanks Nancy ; )
